07 – Agro

The ELA 07-AGRO has been designed for professional use as an aerial crop duster. It can apply liquids at low and ultra-low volume. In addition, since it has the inherent maneuverability of the rest of the 07 series of gyroplanes, the 07-AGRO is well suited as a two-seater trainer.

The fumigation boom has an 8.25 meter (27ft) wingspan, resulting in a swath width of 10 meters (33 ft) plus overlap. The boom can be easily and rapidly folded, allowing for the gyroplane to fit into minimal hangar space. It can also be flown with the boom in its folded position, greatly reducing drag. The gyroplane comes equipped with a GPS to fly fumigation-specific tracks and a 120 liters (31 gal) capacity tank for spraying product.

07 – COUGAR

The 07-Cougar is born from the solid and tested base of the 07S. It is our most sporty, dynamic and configurable model, from the basic version. We have created a gyroplane that provides a true sensation of freedom under its controls. The 07-Cougar is noted for its exceptional performance, agility, maneuverability, along with a powerful pre-rotator.

From the standard model, you can go futher and configure your 07-Cougar to create a personalized one that can compate with our top-models.

Thanks to its high performance, the ELA 07-Cougar was able to beat the FAI World distance and speed records in the category of light gyroplane.

FAQ’s

Gyrocopter, also known as gyroplane, autogyro or rotorplane, is a type of rotorcraft which uses an unpowered rotor in autorotation to develop lift, and an engine-powered propeller, similar to that of a fixed-wing aircraft, to provide thrust. While similar to a helicopter rotor in appearance, the autogyro’s rotor must have air flowing through the rotor disk to generate rotation.

Length of 14 feet (4.25 m) long and 8 feet (2.4 m) high, with tricycle wheels stretched 6.5 feet (2 m) from one another. Gyrocopter’s emptly weight is about 500 lbs (227 kg). For travel, the rotor blades can be disassembled into a box 11 feet (3.35 m) long. The size is one of the main reasons most people are attracted to it as you can easily store it in a car garage or tow it with a small SUV.

Most gyrocopter pilots flying up to 3,00 feet. Specially modified gyrocopter can fly almost 20,000 feet(6,096m). So the versatility of the altitude depends more on the local country’s aviation traffic rules than on technical capability of the gyrocopter.

Most gyrocopter require a runway for takeoff for about 50 to 75 feet(15-25m) but it can land with a zero to 20 foot (6 m) landing roll. No gyrocopter can hover becacuse their rotor blades are not powered. However, he slow forward speed of about 5-10 mph is very close to hovering.

New and modern gyrocopter models with safer aerodynamic stability designs, are as easy to fly as an airplane and easier then flying a helicopter. One has to remember that a Gyrocopter flies differently than an airplane or helicopter, and flight training is essential whether you are a currently a pilot or not.

The most common Gyrocopter cruise at 45 mph to 60 mph (72.5 to 96.5 kph). In recent years, Spanish designed gyrocopters are achieving standard speeds of 85 to 115 mph. With hegher speed, also come more expensive engines and hegher price tags.

Most gyrocopter pilots fly sesibly without trying aerobatics. With a well-trained pilotm a gyrocopter is capable of doing most positive-G aerobatic maneuvers. Negative-G maneuvers which can slow or stop the rotor blades should be avoided.

Safety

  • Gyrocopter will not stall (loose lift), as airplanes can, making them safer at low speeds. Unlike helicopter whose rotors are turned by the engine and a complex pitching mechanism has to be mastered by years of training, gyrocopter rotors are free rotating without any connection to the propeller engine.
  • Aerodynamically stable gyrocopter design are much safer in turbulent winds.
  • Landings are typically made at very slow airspeeds and can be made safely in very short distances.
  • Rotorcraft are typically much safer structural designs as their structures are compact and do not rely on cantilever wings.
  • Today, pilots who fly more stable designs and earn their gyrocopter pilot ratings with professional gyrocopter flight instructors fly much safer.

If the engine stops in mid air, the pilot eases the control stick forward to keep his airspeed and glides to a landing. Because the gyrocopter flies in autorotaion, the pilot doesn’t have to do anything to the rotor blades. A gyrocopter needs emergency landing in the smaller of areas (50′ x 50′ or 15m x 15m).

This is a unique aircraft. if you drive a car you still need to get a motorcycle training if you want to ride a motorcycle. The analogy is the same. Get some gyrocopter training before to see if you like gyrocopter flying . Get an instructor to test-fly your gyrocopter. Complete flight training for gyrocopter rating to fly safely.
